What is wrong with my new Philips HDTV?

okay i just got this new philps tv and i was going through installation choosing all my settings and it was showing me these really detailed pictures pics and telling me what side to choose.After it was done i started watching tv with my cable box and the picture looks horrible.What the heck is wrong with my TV????I want my picture to look good.Finally if this helps it’s a charter cable box.
